Health is often defined by pain and how much we do or (hopefully) do not have. People will focus on it like a job and try to eat the exact right foods, do the exact right exercises, get the exact right amount of sleep, etc. Sometimes, health can be stressful.
I will never say those things are not important, but adding spontaneous physical fun (SPF) to your life may be more important. John Morley, M.D., director of the division of geriatric medicine at Saint Louis University, wrote an article in 2007 about staying young saying that SPF is the key to enjoying a long and healthy life. He says this can include activities like fidgeting at your desk, parking further away and enjoying the weather on your walk to the building, and taking the stairs more often. I recommend you always keep your dancing shoes on: while driving, while cleaning, even while at your desk on hold for customer service. I also recommend laughing out loud at least once a week.
Enjoy getting healthy, being healthy, and staying healthy by adding some SPF to your life.
